'Don't Let Fear Stop You'... ROD and a throwback Thursday (24/365)

'Don't let fear stop you...' Boyd Kelly to Jake Doyle in Republic of Doyle.

One of the things I love about writing a blog is I will never know what I will find when researching some of my favourite fellas and their work. This time it was a catch up session on Allan Hawco.

If you are fan of Allan Hawco and his television show 'Republic of Doyle' filmed in and around St. John's, Newfoundland then you are going to love this Throwback Thursday story.

I found these gorgeous photographs of Allan Hawco, a determined bride named Elizabeth and Jake Doyle's GTO from a scene being shot in downtown St. John's during July and August, 2011.

If you are wondering whose arm that is in the first photograph then you may recognise the guy in the second photograph as Kevin Durand. Kevin Durand's character Donny Squires has been kidnapped by Jake Doyle and handcuffed to the window of the GTO as they drive through St. John's, so he can't get out of the car or move his hands.

The scene being shot was for Season Three of 'Republic of Doyle' and the episode was called 'The Streets of St. John's'. As well as Kevin Durand, Russell Crowe, Scott Grimes and Alan Doyle who all shot the movie 'Robin Hood' together starred in this episode.

Russell Crowe, Scott Grimes, Alan Doyle and Kevin Durand were in St. John's for Indoor Garden Party concerts.

From the webpage of wedding photographer at Colin Peddle.com... 'One Bride's Quest To See Jake Doyle Almost Lands Her In Handcuffs' published 2 August, 2011 at colinpeddle.com. Fear didn't let this bride stop her getting a dream photograph with one of her favourite actors Allan Hawco.

"We’re on the harbor front doing the wedding pictures right next to where they’re filming a car scene for ROD. Elizabeth loves Republic of Doyle (more over, she loves Dreamy Jake Doyle) and the whole time we’re on the waterfront she’s got one eye on the area where they’re about to film.

Suddenly, there’s his car.

Suddenly, there’s Elizabeth running (ie. boot’n’er) down the sidewalk in her dress calling out to Jake. I start chasing her, shooting the entire way through the police barricade — no joke – and next thing out of the car he pops, we get the snaps and he’s back in the car.

Proof that brides can get away with anything. Well done Elizabeth and kudos to Allan Hawco for being one classy guy."
